Last month, OnePlus announced that its One smartphone will be launched in India via an e-commerce portal that
it would partner with by the end of this year. But, now the vendor claims that
the device will be sold via invite only system initially in India as in the
other countries. The highlight is that the invites will be specific to India
and hence, there will be no issues such as scarcity of invites.
It is claimed that the invite
system will help the vendor to control its inventory, scale the team and
support services that will help it to grow with the demand and provide a better
experience to the users of the OnePlus One.
OnePlus has revealed that the One invite system in India
will be temporary and it will be sold via local partners to make it easier for
potential buyers to grab the device. The vendor is in talks with e-commerce
portals to sell the smartphone and it is claimed that more details will be
divulged in the coming weeks.

As with our current launch countries, Indian users will be able to purchase the One with an India specific invite. Invites have been immensely helpful for us thus far in our current launch countries. They allow us to control our inventory, scale our team and support services to grow along with demand and create an overall better experience for those users with the One.
Invites will be neither scarce nor impossible to come by. We’ll also be working with a local partner for an even easier way to get your hands on the One. In addition, invites will also be available through our forums and social media channels… but more information on that a bit later.
The invite system may not stay in place forever.
