Updated Android 5.0 Lollipop build for Samsung Galaxy S5 leaked, Galaxy S4 to get Lollipop update next year

The Galaxy S5 being the flagship smartphone of the South Korean tech giant, it is not a surprise for the vendor to roll out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to the device at first. While we have already spotted an early build of Lollipop on the smartphone, there are reports suggesting that it will be updated in December. A SamMobile report reveals that Samsung has updated the Lollipop base from the earlier LRW58J build to LRX02E that brings quite a lot of changes.

According to the report, the new build adds the new Android Bird game as an easter egg with black and yellow striped rectangles as blockades instead of lollipops and also changes the earlier Android L (version) to Android 5.0.

The Android 5.0 build for the Galaxy S5 has been leaked by the report by means of a video. This newer version of the update clearly shows more Material design elements and UI tweaks on the device. Below are the list of changes in the new Lollipop build compared to the old one, courtesy of SamMobile.
  • Music: Improved UI
  • Contacts: New search box
  • Google Search bar in recents menu
  • New Note 4 fingerprint lock screen
  • Settings: Improved UI, new icon colours
  • Removed “Interruptions” from Sound settings
  • New UI for setting wallpaper from home screen
  • Better spacing between options in power off dialog
  • Clock: Navigation bar icons are now accompanied by text
  • New system-wide font — similar to the original one, but a tad thinner.
  • Stock Material Design inspired applications receive colored status bar
  • Calculator: Removed square grids which surrounded the numbers and symbols
  • Android Lollipop theme’s core green elements replaced with Samsung’s blue colour
  • New animations, much smoother than before — there’s a screen off animation present as well.
  • Gallery: Media can be sorted using new filters including Pets, Events, Scenery, Documents, Food, Vehicles and Flowers.
  • Brightness slider in notification centre has a new yellow colour — while changing the brightness, the notification centre disappears and allows the user to view the content beneath it.
Nevertheless, the almost complete video of Android 5.0 Lollipop build on the Galaxy S5 tips that the update is all set to be rolled out in December without any delay.

In addition to the new Lollipop build of Galaxy S5, SamMobile has also revealed that the Galaxy S4 will be confirmed getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. According to the report, the Exynos variant (GT-I9500) of Galaxy S4 will be the first to receive the Lollipop update later next year followed by the Snapdragon 600 one (GT-I9505).

Lastly, a new report from South Korean media reveals that the Korean tech giant is working on a 13-inch tablet. There are not much details available regarding this tablet, but it is said that the tablet will use an LCD display rather than Super AMOLED display. (via)
