Asus, in a surprising move has announced the launch of a new mid-range Android smartphone in the Chinese market. Dubbed as Asus Pegasus X002, the smartphone comes with mid-range specs with an aggressive price tag, directly competing with Xiaomi Redmi 1s. The Pegasus X002 comes in Black and White colours and is priced at 799 Yuan in China, which is approx. Rs. 8,136 / $129.
There is no word on whether Asus plans to release the Pegasus X002 globally.
As far as specifications are concerned, Asus Pegasus X002 comes with a 5-inch HD display, 1.5GHz 64-bit quad-core MediaTek MT6732 processor, Mali-T760 GPU, 2GB RAM and Android 4.4 KitKat with Asus Zen UI on top. The smartphone measures 146 x 73 x 9.9mm and weights 140 grams.
Other specifications include an 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 5MP front facing camera, 16GB internal storage with expandable up to 32GB using microSD card and 2,500 mAh battery. Connectivity series include 4G TD-LTE support / 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.
