Oppo has officially announced the launch of its thinnest smartphone measuring just 4.85 mm in the Indian market earlier this week. Dubbed as Oppo R5, the smartphone features a 3D welded aluminum alloy build and a hand-polished frame measuring only 4 mm in thickness. Oppo R5 was officially announced in October along with the Oppo N3 in Singapore.
Oppo has priced the R5 in the country at Rs. 29,990 and it comes in silver color. According to Oppo, the smartphone will be available for pre-booking starting today (January 1st, 2015). Due to such a thin profile, Oppo R5 misses the 3.5mm audio jack. But Oppo is providing a microUSB to audio jack adapter with the phone.
When it comes to specifications, Oppo R5 comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD AMOLED display, 1.5GHz 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, Adreno 405 graphics unit, 2GB of RAM and Android 4.4 KitKat with Color OS 2.0 on top.
Oppo has made use of a special cooling element made of liquid metal and phase change materials to eradicate the heat generated by the chipset.
Other specifications include a 13MP Sony IMX214 rear sensor that comes with f/2.0 aperture, a 5MP front facer snapper, 2,000 mAh battery and 16GB internal storage along with the VOOC mini rapid charging technology. The other aspects of the smartphone include 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.
