Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 rugged smartphone images and specifications leaked

Over the years, Samsung has always been consistent when it comes to the rugged smartphones segment for outdoor activities by adding few models to their portfolio every year. Few offerings that we can mention in this category include Galaxy S5 Active and Galaxy S4 Active that are the rugged variants of the firm’s yesteryear models and the entire Xcover range. But, the latter failed to witness a new variant since the launch of the Galaxy Xcover 2 in early 2013.

Now, it appears like Samsung is planning to launch the Galaxy Xcover 3 smartphone as a device with the model number SM-G388F has been surfaced online. GSMArena has exclusively leaked image of the Xcover 3 smartphone and it claims that the device will be incorporated with a Marvell Armada PXA1908 chipset housing a quad-core Cortex-A53 processor and 1GB of RAM.

Furthermore, the report cites other specifications of the smartphone as revealed by GFXBench. As per these details, the smartphone is likely to arrive with a 4.8-inch WVGA display with screen resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and 8GB of internal storage capacity. The imaging department of the handset features a 5MP main camera at its back and a 2MP front facing snapper.

The design cues of the Xcover 3 appear to be borrowed from the Galaxy S5 Active with toughened corners, shapes and arrangement of button and sensor placement. The handset’s back panel shows the flash, camera and speaker arrangement that seems to be similar to the low end Samsung devices launched lately. Also, there is a textured back panel design to offer a secure grip.

The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 is likely to be based on Android 4.4 KitKat. There is no word on pricing and availability details of the Xcover 3 yet.
