Samsung sends out invitations for March 1 event to unveil the Galaxy S6 & Galaxy S6 Edge
Samsung has sent out media invites for an event that is scheduled to happen on March 1 during the pre-MWC meet in Barcelona. The vendor is expected to unleash the flagship Galaxy S6 and the highly anticipated curved display model called Galaxy S6 Edge. The invite reads What's Next and features a curved display device, which clearly hints at the Galaxy S6 Edge.
The March 1 launch will also finalize if Samsung is really going to ditch its long time partner, chip maker Qualcomm and stick on only to its Exynos chipset. The chipset was blaimed to result in overheating and hence, Samsung is likely to launch its top notch models only with the in-house Exynos 7420 with an octa-core processor and 3GB of RAM.
Going by the previous reports, the Galaxy S6 it is expected to be a metal clad smartphone that will not be dust or water resistant. It is said to pack a 5-inch or 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, Android 5.0 Lollipop with updated TouchWiz UI and flaunt a 20MP main camera at its back with OIS.
The device is said to arrive with inbuilt wireless charging and come in three configurations such as 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. Recent reports pointed that the Samsung Galaxy S6 will resemble the iPhone 6 with a similar design. Also, Samsung is likely to introduce Samsung Pay, a NFC based mobile payment service to challenge Apple Pay.
