Along with the Xperia Z4 Tablet, Sony has also announced a new high-end mid-ranger Android smartphone at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona. Dubbed as Sony Xperia M4 Aqua, as the name suggests, is water/dust resistant and has IP65 and IP68 certification, giving it the highest protection against dust and water that is possible in a smartphone (upto 1.5m for 30 mins).
According to Sony, the Xperia M4 Aqua comes in black, white, coral and silver colours and will be available in 80 countries through 100 partners worldwide this Spring for around EUR 299. The smartphone will be available in both single-SIM and dual-SIM versions.
As far as specifications are concerned, Sony Xperia M4 Aqua comes with a 5-inch HD IPS display with resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (MSM8939) chipset with 1.5GHz octa-core processor (1.5GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 + 1GHz quad-core Cortex-A53), Adreno 405 GPU, 2GB of RAM and Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The M4 Aqua measures 145.5 x 72.6 x 7.3 mm and weighs 140 grams. Sony claims that the 2,400 mAh battery in the phone is capable of offering two-days of battery back-up, which can be further expanded by STAMINA mode.
Other specifications include 13MP Exmor RS rear camera with F2.0 aperture and ISO 3200 sensitivity, 5MP front-facing camera with 88° field of view and 8GB / 16GB internal storage with microSD card support. Connectivity series include 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, WiFi 820.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and NFC.
