The first half of 2015 gave two best Samsung smartphones of all time, the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. Soon after the announcement of both these devices, rumours about the next generation Galaxy Note 5 and the bigger variant of Galaxy S6 Edge showed up. Now, a recent report has revealed most of the specifications of both upcoming smartphones. There are several rumors and speculations regarding these devices, but this report has cleared up a lot of confusions that persisted.

According to SamMobile, which has a pretty good track record on Samsung leak, both these devices will come with Super AMOLED Quad HD displays measuring 5.67-inches with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. They will be available in white, gold, black and silver color variants and feature fingerprint sensors in their home buttons similar to the current flagship smartphones from Samsung.

The Galaxy Note 5 will carry the model number SM-N920 and it is alleged to have a flat display similar to the Galaxy S6. On the other hand, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, with model number SM-G928, is claimed to feature a dual curved display as the Galaxy S6 Edge. The report further reveals that the handsets will feature a glass back similar to the flagship duo that exists in the market. This confirms that there will be no micro SD card slot or removable battery in these upcoming devices.

The report further confirms that the difference between the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will be in the innards. The former likely codenamed Project Noble is speculated to be the first device to feature the in-house Exynos 7422 all-in-one chipset – featuring a 64-bit octa-core CPU, GPU, RAM, storage and Shannon LTE modem. The Note 5 is also said to feature 4GB of LP-DDR4 RAM.

Talking of the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, which is codenamed Project Zen, the device is likely to be equipped with a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor. Also, the imaging aspects include a 16MP main snapper with OIS and alleged RAW imaging support and a 5MP front facing selfie shooter. The other goodies that will be a part of the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will include a 3,000 mAh battery, 32GB of native storage space and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system.

In the meantime, there is a contradictory report from The Wall Street Journal regarding the alleged launch date of the fifth generation Galaxy Note phablet.

While Samsung has been unveiling the Galaxy Note lineup of devices at the IFA tech show since 2011, the report suggests that this year the company might opt for a mid-August launch date for the Galaxy Note 5 to compete with the iPhone that will go official approximately at the same time. An earlier launch is claimed to give Samsung the necessary time to create a hype for the Galaxy Note 5.

The same has been further confirmed by SamMobile. And according to SamMobile's insider, who seems pretty confident, the Galaxy Note 5 will get announced on August 12th, and go on sale around two weeks later on August 21st. The rumored Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will be announced alongside the Galaxy Note 5 on the same date as the Galaxy S6 edge+.

SamMobile also reports that the two devices will be accompanied by the official launch of Samsung Pay. Talking about the devices, the Note 5 won't have a microSD card slot and will basically be blown-up version of the Galaxy S6 with extremely thin screen bezels, like the Galaxy A8. The S Pen stylus will now look more like a pen and have the same color as the color of the device, reports SamMobile.

Last but not the least, couple of photos (seen above) of an alleged Galaxy S6 edge+ dummy unit has made rounds online, which gives us a good idea of what the real device will look like. The dummy unit of Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is sitting next to the Galaxy Note 4 to illustrate the increased size. As you can see, the Galaxy S6 edge+ is just a stretched up version of the original S6 edge.

The most notable stuff on dummy's screen is the date, which reads August 21st, which is the rumored release date for the Note 5 and Edge Plus. Stay connected with us for more information about the upcoming Samsung smartphones.
