Along with the announcement of Android 5.0 Lollipop, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, Google has also announced the NexusPlayer, a new living room media box. It
is the first device based on the new Android TV platform and is made by Google
and Asus together. The Nexus Player is the most recent attempt taken by Google
to take over the TV.

At the Google I/O conference’s
keynote session on Wednesday, Google along with Android L took the wraps off a new version of Android for the living room called Android TV. The Android TV is the successor of Google TV and it brings a new user interface to the gaming consoles, TVs and set
top boxes. The Android TV adds Android
along with usual content such as music, apps, games and movies to the big
screen.

The Google I/O event is about to kick off in some hours from now and it will bring a lot of goodies with it. We all know that the next version of Android will be previewed at the event alongside detailing regarding the Android Wear platform and something we didn’t know (actually we know) till now has just come to light. Google might launch the long rumoured Android TV at the event too in order to go up against the likes of Apple TV and the Amazon Fire TV.

Google is all set to introduce an all new Android TV platform at the Google I/O conference this month, claims a GigaOM report. This report claims that the new platform will be a redesigned version of the already existing Google TV platform with the focus on online content and Android gaming.

HTC has been long rumored to be prepping a tablet and recent reports suggest that the firm will be joining hands with Google to announce a Nexus tablet sometime this year. As per the latest reports there appears to be some solid proof for the existence of the purported HTC Nexus 8 tablet. Those at Myce have spotted a new device bearing the codename Flounder in the Chromium issue tracker that does not reveal any other information.

Following the footprints of Amazon’s Fire TV, Google seems to be working on Android TV, claim media reports. Well, as per a report from The Verge, screenshots of Google’s Android TV have been leaked online proving the existence of such a product from the Mountain Valley based search engine giant. The upcoming Google service is said to compete with rivals such as Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Roku.
