Sony unveiled the Xperia Z smartphone during CES, and well, it looks like a “Z” tablet may also be in the works. The details have yet to be confirmed by Sony, however it is looking as if they are getting ready to announce the Tablet Z. The tablet is expected to have a 10.1-inch Full HD display and arrive during the second quarter of 2013.

Aside from an HD display, the Tablet Z is also said to feature a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, A 6000 mAh battery, 2.2 megapixel front-facing camera and an 8.1 megapixel rear-facing camera. Other goodies will include NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and LTE connectivity.
The tablet should arrive running Jelly Bean. At the time of these details, that is said to be Android 4.1.2. Otherwise, the Tablet Z is expected to have a design that is similar to the Xperia Z smartphone. And taking that another step further, the Tablet Z will also be waterproof and dustproof with IP5X and IP57 ratings.
Aside from the specs, the tablet is currently sporting a codename of “Pollux” and with a model number of SO-03E  for NTT DoCoMo in Japan & C690X in the West. The Tablet Z is expected to arrive first in Japan and then later in other markets. That all being said, keep in mind these are early leaks which means details can and likely will change before an official announcement. Of course, even as it stands, these specs would be a decent improvement over the Tablet S which featured a 1280 x 800 display, Tegra 3 processor and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
