Samsung has officially announced Galaxy Gear smartwatch yesterday at IFA 2013 press conference held in Berlin. Similar to Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy Gear will also be available beginning from September 25th on-wards in 140 countries.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was introduced along with Samsung Galaxy Gear. The rumoured and leaked Samsung Galaxy Gear is now officially official. Samsung has officially announced Galaxy Gear smartwatch yesterday at IFA 2013 press conference held in Berlin. Similar to Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy Gear will also be available beginning from September 25th on-wards in 140 countries.


According to Samsung, the smartwatch will be available for $299 in United States, which is approx Rs. 20,000 in India. Samsung Galaxy Gear lets users to live in the moment while staying connected to their Samsung Galaxy devices.The smartwatch notifies users of incoming messages, such as calls, texts, emails and alerts, delivers a preview of those messages and creates the opportunity for users to accept or discreetly ignore those messages.

Gear can be connected to any Samsung Galaxy device using Bluetooth and comes with built-in speaker, which can be used to make hands-free calls directly from the watch. Samsung has also included a 1.9MP camera on Gear to enjoy and capture every moment right from their wrist.

The camera on Gear is capable of recording HD 720p videos and using Voice Memo feature, the camera lets users capture important thoughts or conversations from their wrists and save those voice recordings into texts on their smartphones.

The Galaxy Gear also serves as a wristwatch and includes several face options that create the opportunity for users to personalize their watch face. The watch comes preloaded with 10 different clock options and more choices can be downloaded via Samsung Apps.

The Galaxy Gear will be available in six different colour options: Jet Black, Mocha Gray, Wild Orange, Oatmeal Beige, Rose Gold, and Lime Green. This isn't all, there will be about 70 apps available for Gear at launch including Atooma, Banjo, Glympse, eBay, Evernote, Line, MyFitnessPal, Path, Pocket, RunKeeper, Triplt, Vivino, and more.

According to Pranav MistryHead of Samsung Think Tank Team and Director of Research at Samsung Research America, Samsung Galaxy Gear will come with support for Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Marathi, Punjabi and all other major Indian languages.



Talking about the specifications now, the Samsung Galaxy Gear comes with an impressive 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display having resolution of 320x320p with 800MHz processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, 315 mAh battery and 1.9MP camera with BSI sensor, Auto Focus and Sound & Shot feature. The watch is 11.1mm thick and weighs only 73.8 grams. Gear also comes with 2 Noise Cancelling microphones, 1 built-in speaker and Bluetooth 4.0+BLE.
