Sony Xperia T2 Ultra with 6-inch HD display, Snapdragon 400 processor officially announced

Sony has just now announced a new mid-range Android phablet. Dubbed as Sony Xperia T2 Ultra, the phablet sports a 6-inch display and mid-range specs. The Xperia T2 Ultra also comes in dual-SIM version, called as Xperia T2 Ultra Dual. The specifications of T2 Ultra Dual is similar to that of Xperia T2 Ultra.

Sony has just now announced a new mid-range Android phablet. Dubbed as Sony Xperia T2 Ultra, the phablet sports a 6-inch display and mid-range specs. The Xperia T2 Ultra also comes in dual-SIM version, called as Xperia T2 Ultra Dual. The specifications of T2 Ultra Dual is similar to that of Xperia T2 Ultra.

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra comes in three colours, black, white and purple. The dual-SIM version of the phablet features Sony's dual SIM management technology means that users can keep both SIMs active. Users can also set up both SIM cards independently with custom ringtones and one-touch switching between SIMs before making calls or sending texts.

Specifications-wise, the Xperia T2 Ultra comes with a 6-inch HD TRILUMINOS display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 and X-Reality for mobile, 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8928 processor, 1GB RAM and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

The phablet measures 165.2 x 83.8 x 7.65 mm and weighs 172 grams. Other specifications include, 13MP rear camera with LED flash, 1.1MP front facing camera, 8GB internal storage with up to 32GB microSD card support and 3,000 mAh battery.

Connectivity series include LTE support, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, MHL, NFC, USB 2.0, aGPS and GLONASS. Sony has coupled Xperia T2 Ultra with new smart social camera, which comes with many camera add-ons like Portrait Retouch, Collage, Background defocus, Timeshift burst and Sweep Panorama.

"Xperia T2 Ultra will lead the category through its combination of advanced display and camera technologies, it will bring large-screen entertainment in an amazingly portable form factor and it will do it all whilst providing incredible value for money," said Calum MacDougall, Director of Xperia Marketing at Sony Mobile Communications. "Its large HD display will deliver big screen entertainment on the go whilst the efficiency of the design will allow it to remain the worlds most portable large screen smartphone."

There is no word on when the smartphone will be available for purchase and at what price, but the press release notes that the price will be less than €400 i.e., Rs. 33,600 approx / US$546.
