HTC is strengthening its mid-range of smartphones now and will soon launch Desire 8, a mid-range device which it seems to have confirmed on its Sina Weibo account. The post has an image of Desire 8 which as Chinese text on it which upon translation from Google states that the company does not have enough funds for marketing.
In related to the news, recognised HTC ROM developer, LlabTooFeR has revealed the complete specs of the smartphone.
A second image has also been posted on Weibo which has a screenshot of the Sense UI. It has its date and time set for 10AM on February 24 which is pretty much when the MWC starts. The weather widget on the same reads 2°C Beijing. It was initially rumoured to be launched earlier but HTC might would have decided to launch the device at the MWC instead.
The remaining text states that the HTC Desire 8 loves to take pictures: thus hinting towards the fact that it will have the imaging department as one of its strongest points. The HTC Desire 8 will come with stereo front-facing speakers (BoomSound) for a good music experience and will feature on-screen buttons instead of hardware buttons below the screen.
Coming to leaked specifications, according to LlabTooFeR, the Desire 8 will feature a 5.5-inch HD 720p display, 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 (MSM8926) processor, 1GB RAM and Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6.0 UI.
The smartphone will also come with a 13MP rear camera with LED flash, 5MP front facing camera, 8GB internal storage with microSD card support, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.0.
Rumours also suggest that the phone will be released in both dual-SIM and single-SIM versions. Where, the CDMA/LTE variant will head to Sprint USA, TD-LTE for China and the single-SIM and dual-SIM (CDMA/GSM) will be available for global markets such as Europe, Africa, Asia and US (AT&T to be specific).
