HTC has been pretty busy working on wearable technology and it has said to be working on 3 wearable technology devices. It is struggling a lot in the smartphone sales department so it is now exploring other areas such as wearable technology. So it will take the MWC as an opportunity to showcase its wearable technology devices it has been working on and tell the world that it has not yet run out of steam.

HTC

HTC is rumoured to showcase a smartwatch prototype based on the Qualcomm Toq at the MWC to carriers only which will be joined in by a Google Now smartwatch and a new music playing electronic bracelet. The report comes from “a person with direct knowledge of the plans” who wished not to be identified. Whether these will be shown to the public or just carriers is still being contemplated but the latter seems more like a possibility.

HTC had stated earlier this year that the company was working on wearable technology for a while and its wearable gadget (probably a smartwatch) will be launched by Christmas this year. HTC is also now starting to focus on mid-range and entry-level smartphones to gain back some of the market share that it has been losing out constantly on.

The company has declined to comment on the development which pretty much means that the news is true somewhere. MWC is not far away and starts on 24th of February. We’ll know everything about the devices then and which way HTC plans on going. Stay tuned.
