Nokia Normandy aka Nokia X with 4-inch display, Android 4.4 KitKat to launch in March
Nokia will soon release its first ever Android smartphone and the device will be available in March as per a senior Nokia India official who wished to remain anonymous. The smartphone will join the Asha series and will be the flagship Asha device in all likelihood. The smartphone will be slotted below the Lumia 520 and will be meant to take a share of the entry level smartphone market.
The Nokia Normandy or Nokia X will be probably the only Android smartphone from Nokia as the project started before Microsoft's acquisition. The smartphone will feature a 4-inch display like the Lumia 520 and might just have the same internals as well as per the latest reports. It is expected to come with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and complementing the same will be a 512MB RAM.
At the back will be a 5MP camera without flash. The smartphone will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and the same is expected to be the reason for the smartphone to be ahead of its counterparts. It will come with 4GB/8GB of internal storage capacity which will be available for expansion via a microSD card by another 32GB or 64GB.
The smartphone will be come in a single SIM as well as dual SIM guise with 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth being made available for connectivity. If it actually is an Android device, it might just take away the sales of majority of the budget smartphones. Another issue might be the cannibalization of Lumia 520 sales but hey, at the end of the day, it will be a Nokia smartphone that would sell.
