Sony is looking to strengthen its mid-range of smartphones after taking care of the top end. The images of an upcoming mid range smartphone from the company have leaked on to the interweb and the device will be named as the Xperia G. It looks like a slightly smaller sibling of the Xperia Z1 and will come with a plastic frame and a plastic case.
The Xperia G will get Sony’s signature power button and a dedicated camera button. It will have a 4.8-inch screen, 1GB RAM and will have LTE support as well. The resolution of the display is yet unknown, but as a mid-ranger HD is likely. At the back will be a 8MP snapper with LED flash. The internal storage capacity will stand at 8GB which will be available for expansion via a microSD card.
It will also get NFC for connectivity but won't be water resistant as it does not come with any IP rating, which is further confirmed by the uncovered USB port. The smartphone will be showcased at the MWC later this month. It will feature a glossy plastic back. The camera will be in the middle of the frame instead of the corners like other Xperia models.
It has been leaked by the good folks back @Vizileaks, which is a Twitter channel that had also leaked the Lumia 1020 last year. So their credibility is something we won’t really question.
Sony has been doing well in the smartphone arena and its latest Xperia range has been helping the company do wonders for it. And now it is ready to further strengthen its mid-range which it will showcase at the MWC 2014.
