HTC has now realised that focusing just on high end devices won't cut it. It is now working strongly on its mid-rangers and joining the ranks soon will be the HTC Desire 616 which has just been certified in China by TENAA. Also a Weibo user has luckily got his hands-on this unannounced Desire smartphone, and has posted some live images of the same online.

HTC Desire 616

The Desire 616 comes with a 5-inch HD display unit, borrows looks from the HTC One (though is plasticky) and has a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor doing duty under the hood. It runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 5 on top, which comes across as a disappointment. The device will come with a moniker Desire 616 and from the looks of it, looks like HTC is targeting China in full spirit.

The device will be joined in by its global version as well later on. Its dimensions will stand at 142 x 71.9 x 9.1 mm and the device will tip the scales at 150 grams. Desire 616 will come with an 8.0 MP camera at the back and a front camera of unknown resolution will be present as well. It misses out on front-facing BoomSound speakers, but has dual-SIM support.

Expect it to be priced around the Rs 20,000-25,000 mark when it gets launched in India and lock horns with a slew of octa core devices that have just gone on sale in India. Stay tuned for more information regarding the device.
