As expected, Samsung has officially launched its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5 in India today at an event held in New Delhi. The Galaxy S5 is the latest, fifth, Galaxy S series device, after Galaxy S4, which was announced last year. Samsung Galaxy S5 was originally announced this year at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February.
The pricing of the phone is not yet revealed, but Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S5 will be priced between Rs. 51,000 and Rs. 53,000. Exact pricing will be revealed when the phone goes on sale. The smartphone will go on sale in India from April 11th, which is the global launch date of the S5. Starting from March 29th, interested buyers (if any) can pre-order the smartphone from Samsung India eStore.
The smartphone comes in an array of vivid colors, including Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold, to complement the style of the individual consumer. The Galaxy S5 launched in India is powered by Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa-Core 5422 processor with four 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 cores and four 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 cores. In case you don't know, the European and North American Galaxy S5 runs on Snapdragon 801 processor.
Coming to specifications arena, Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a 5.1-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, 2GB RAM, Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Samsung's TouchWiz user-interface on top, 16MP rear camera with LED flash, 2.1MP front facing camera, 16GB internal storage with up to 64GB supported microSD card slot and 2,800 mAh battery.
The device measures 142.0 x 72.5 x 8.1mm and weighs 145 grams. Connectivity series include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2X2 MIMO), Bluetooth v4.0 BLE /ANT+, USB 3.0 (covered), NFC and IR Remote.
In addition to all those specs, the phone is IP67 dust and water resistant. It also comes with Ultra Power Saving Mode, Quick Connect, Private mode and Kids mode. The Galaxy S5 also features a Download Booster, which is an innovative Wi-Fi technology for boosting data speed by bonding Wi-Fi and LTE simultaneously.
Finally, the Galaxy S5 come with a fingerprint scanner, which is embedded in the home key. Swiping the finger eight times on the button will teach the S5 to record your print, so when you need to unlock the device in future your print is recognised.
