HTC planning to launch plastic variant of the One (M8) in China next month

Though HTC is still striving hard to find a competitive position in the smartphone arena, the firm is consistently launching new smartphones ranging from premium models to mid-range handsets. Despite having a low market share as compared to Samsung, the firm’s handsets such as the newly launched One (M8) has received applauses for boasting an all metal body that is still untouched by Samsung offerings.

Latest rumors across the tech media world suggest that the Taiwanese firm is planning to launch a variant of its flagship model, One (M8) that is dressed completely in plastic. This plastic One (M8) smartphone is claimed to go official next month.

According to a TMTPost report citing sources, HTC will be launching the above said handset in the Chinese market next month, but a global launch of the same is still not ruled out. Also, the very phone is believed to be priced at 3,000 Yuan (approx. Rs 29,000) in China. The original metal-clad One (M8) is priced at 5,299 Yuan (approx. Rs 51,300).

The plastic One (M8) variant is said to retain the same specifications as the original variant including a 5.0-inch Full HD display, 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB RAM and Android 4.4.2 KitKat with HTC Sense 6.0 user-interface.

Other specifications include Duo Camera (4MP UltraPixel primary + depth capturing secondary camera) with dual-LED flash, 5MP front facing camera, 16GB / 32GB internal storage with up to 128GB supported microSD card slot and 2,600 mAh battery.
