While everyone waits for the next iteration of Android, allegedly called the Android 5.0 (Lollipop), the search engine giant earlier today has started rolling out the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update for the Nexus range of devices. The update is a minor one with build number KTU84P. Google rolled out the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update earlier this month, which brought loads of bug fixes and major security fixes. The latest update brings minor additional security fixes.
The 4.4.4 KitKat update is just a security update which is centered around fixing a newly discovered OpenSSL vulnerability. The update also brings small tweaks to to fix unrelated bugs in logging and security.
Google has also published the 4.4.4 KitKat update factory images and binaries for Nexus devices on its developer website.
The over-the-air update is currently rolling out for Nexus 5, other Nexus and Google Play Edition devices are expected to receive the same in the coming days. The update for Nexus 5 is just 2.45MB in size.
