The heavily rumored HTC One (M8) Prime, the premium variant of the firm’s current flagship model – HTC One (M8) has been cancelled and it will not come to the spotlight. In the meantime, speculations regarding the next generation flagship phone – HTC M9 and its premium version alleged to be dubbed M9 Prime have started hitting the web.

HTC One (M8)

As per the notorious Twitter leakster @evleaks, both M9 and M9 Prime will be introduced sometime in Q1 2015 and it is claimed that the latter will be released prior to the M9.

As of now, there are no details pertaining to the features of the HTC M9 and M9 Prime. While the cancelled M8 Prime was speculated to arrive with a QHD display, the next generation model will definitely be more advanced and obviously more expensive.

As for the cancelled M8 Prime, the smartphone was speculated to arrive with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display boasting a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and be equipped with a Snapdragon 805 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The device was also gossiped to include the LTE-A Cat 6 connectivity support.

While the specs and features of the upcoming models remain a mystery, we hope any of these features will be present in the M9 or M9 Prime. But, we cannot assure anything until HTC reveals something about its plans.
