After a long wait, Motorola on Friday along with new Moto G and Moto 360 also took the wraps off the next generation Moto X smartphone. The new Moto X comes with high-end specifications and improved build quality compared to its predecessor. The smartphone comes in black and white colours with aluminum frame and 25 back finishes including leather and wood via Moto Maker.
According to Motorola, the new Moto X will be available in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia starting later this month. The smartphone has been priced at $99.99 with a two-year contract on AT&T or Verizon and $499.99 unlocked, without contract.
Motorola has also revealed that it will be launching the new Moto X along with the Moto 360 smartwatch in the country later this month, no word on pricing details yet.
The second generation Moto X comes with enhanced version of Active Display with more options like custom Touchless Control prompts along with four noise-cancellation microphones and four IR sensors on the front for hands-free operation like ability to silence calls by waving at the phone. The phone also comes with front facing speakers, similar to Moto E and new Moto G.
On the specifications front, the new Moto X comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD AMOLED display with 423ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB RAM and Android 4.4.4 KitKat with promised future updates. The smartphone is 9.97mm thick and weights 144 grams.
Other specifications include an 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, 2MP front facing camera, 16GB / 32GB (only Moto Maker) internal storage and 2,300 mAh battery. Connectivity series include 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC support and GPS / GLONASS.
