Google Nexus 9 with 8.9-inch QXGA display, 64-bit Tegra K1 processor, Android 5.0 Lollipop announced

With the announcement of next-generation Nexus smartphone, Google has also unveiled the next-generation Nexus tablet on Wednesday. The new Nexus tablet is called Google Nexus 9 and as expected, is built-in partnership with HTC. The Nexus 9 is the fourth Nexus tablet after Nexus 7 (2013), announced last year. It is the first HTC-made Nexus tablet and has a 4:3 aspect ratio.

With the announcement of next-generation Nexus smartphone, Google has also unveiled the next-generation Nexus tablet on Wednesday. The new Nexus tablet is called Google Nexus 9 and as expected, is built-in partnership with HTC. The Nexus 9 is the fourth Nexus tablet after Nexus 7 (2013), announced last year. It is the first HTC-made Nexus tablet and has a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Nexus 9 delights with clean lines, a brushed metal frame and soft grip back. The tablet comes in unique colors which include Indigo Black, Lunar White and Sand. Since, the Nexus 9 is made by HTC, it features front-facing stereo speakers with HTC’s BoomSound, which makes sound immersive, layered, and distortion-free.

Google has also introduced a folding keyboard case for the Nexus 9. Nexus 9's Keyboard Folio users has full-travel mechanical keys, attaches to Nexus 9 with magnets, pairs by NFC and supports two typing angles. You can charge it via microUSB, and the battery is big enough to last five months between charges.

The Nexus 9 will be released in two storage options 16GB and 32GB, and in WiFi only and WiFi + LTE options. As for pricing, the 16GB variant is priced at $399, while  the 32GB model is expected at $479, and an LTE + WiFi version of the 32GB Nexus 9 will cost $599. The tablet is already up for pre-order on Play Store and will be hitting stores on November 3rd. The Keyboard Folio case is priced at $129.

On the specifications front, Google Nexus 9 comes with a 8.9-inch IPS LCD QXGA display with 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution, Gorilla Glass 3 protection and double tap to wake-up feature, 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 Dual Denver processor at 2.3GHz, 192-core Kepler GPU, 2GB RAM and Android 5.0 Lollipop. The tablet measures 153.68  x 228.25  x 7.95 mm and weights 425 grams (WiFi) / 436 grams (WiFi+LTE).

Other specifications include an 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 1.6MP front facing camera, 16GB / 32GB internal storage and 6,700 mAh battery. Connectivity series include 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2x2 (MIMO), Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and GPS.
