In order to cash in on the selfie
focused smartphone segment, HTC has unleashed the Desire Eye smartphone that boasts an
impressive camera department. The smartphone arrives with 13MP camera sensors at
its front and back, both paired with dual-LED flash for superior photography
experience under ambient low light conditions.
Furthermore, both the snappers
are capable of recording Full HD 1080p videos. The rear camera comes with f/2.0
aperture and 28 mm lens, whereas the front facer has f/2.2 aperture and 20 mm
lens.
The Desire Eye comes with two
camera centric applications such as Eye Experience that combines features
including Split Capture to divide the image into half between the two cameras
and Crop Me In feature that superimposes the images captured by both the
cameras into one. The other application is the latest iteration of Zoe video
editing tool that can be integrated with the new HTC RE camera. The other
features are Face Tracking, Screen Share, Face Fusion, Live Makeup, Auto Selfie,
Voice Selfie and Photo Booth.
The Taiwan based tech titan HTC has
assured that it be rolling out the Eye Experience app to the other smartphones
that have been launched lately. Also, the Zoe video editing tool will also be
rolled out to the Android and iOS devices later this year.
Besides camera, the HTC Desire
Eye comes with impressive hardware aspects as well packing a 5.2-inch Full HD display with 1920 x 1080p resolution layered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The handset
uses a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor supplemented with
Adreno 330 graphics unit and 2GB of RAM.
The Desire Eye bundles 16GB of
internal storage capacity that can be expanded up to 128GB with the help of a
microSD card. The Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system is topped with HTC Sense
6.0 UI with updated set of features. Connectivity features onboard are 4G LTE,
3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and GPS with GLONASS. Also, there is a 2,400 mAh
battery under its hood to power the handset.
It has dual front-facing stereo
speakers with built-in amplifiers as in the other HTC smartphones. There are 3
microphones for enhanced background noise cancellation. Furthermore, the Desire
Eye comes with IPX7 rating that makes it water resistant. The smartphone measures 151.7 x 73.8 x 8.5 mm and weights 154 grams.
Talking about the availability, according to HTC, the Desire Eye will be rolled-out globally starting October and will be AT&T exclusive in the US and Three exclusive in UK. The device is expected to be priced around Rs. 40,000 (between $550 to $650).
