Sony has officially announced the launch of its first smartwatch running on Google's Android Wear platform in the Indian market. Dubbed as Sony SmartWatch 3, the smartwatch was originally introduced way back in September at IFA 2014 along with SmartBand Talk, that is the successor of original SmartBand.
Both the SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk comes in black colour and are priced at Rs. 19,990 and Rs. 12,990 respectively. According to Sony, the devices are now available across the country from Sony Center and major electronics store. The SmartWatch 3 is the most-expensive Android Wear powered device to be released in the country.
On the specifications front, Sony SmartWatch 3 comes with a 1.6-inch TFT LCD trans-reflective display with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels that can be viewed even under direct sunlight, 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB RAM and has 4GB of internal storage capacity.
It is also claimed to house a 420mAh battery that is claimed to deliver a backup of about 2 days on typical usage and there is a microUSB charging port as well. Other specifications of the watch include Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, GPS and IP68 waterproofing certification.
Next on the list is the SmartBand Talk, that comes with a 1.4-inch black and white E-ink display with resolution of 292 x 128 pixels, ARM Cortex-M5 processor, 2MB internal storage, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB port and 70mAh battery. The device is 9.5mm thick and weights 24 grams, and is water and dust proof courtesy of IP68 rating.
Sony has fitted the device with mic and speaker to let users to make and receive phone calls from the device on their wrist. The altimeter provided in the wearable will allow the user to track elevation as well.
