Xiaomi to unveil new Redmi smartphone on January 4th, Redmi 1S Dual 4G expected
Xiaomi on its official Weibo page has announced that the firm is going to unveil a new Redmi-series smartphone on January 4th in China. Xiaomi is expected to announce the successor of popular Xiaomi Redmi 1S on that day. The new version of Redmi 1S is said to arrive with dual-LTE connectivity support. The teaser image also reveals that the phone will come in range of colours.
According to IT168, this new version of Redmi 1S will be called the Xiaomi Redmi 1S Dual 4G and will come in Black, White, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple color options. Also, the smartphone will first go on sale via QQ Space.
This new Redmi 1S variant was also found listed on AnTuTu and TENAA website recently. According to AnTuTu and TENAA, the new model is more compact, measuring 134 x 67.2 x 9.2mm versus 137 x 69 x 9.9mm and lighter, weighting 134 grams versus 159 grams than the original Redmi 1S.
Design-wise, the bezels are more slimmer and the LED flash has been moved to the left of the camera. In terms of specifications, the upcoming Redmi smartphone will come with a 4.7-inch HD display, 1.2GHz quad-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, Adreno 306 GPU, 1GB RAM and Android 4.4.4 KitKat with latest MIUI 6 on top.
Other specifications include an 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 2MP front facing camera, 8GB internal storage with expandable using microSD card and 2,200 mAh battery. Connectivity series include 4G LTE support (both SIMs) / 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.
