HTC U11 'squeezable phone' with Quad HD display, SD835 SoC, 6GB RAM launched in India

HTC has officially launched the HTC U11 smartphone in the Indian market. The HTC U11 was originally announced last month with high-end specifications, liquid glass surface design, and with extra value added features. The key feature of the U11 is its new squeeze technology. You can read more about this feature below.

HTC has launched the U11 in India in two different colors including Brilliant Black and Amazing Silver. The smartphone has been priced at Rs. 51,990 in India, which include 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

According to HTC, the HTC U11 will be available in India starting last week of June '17 exclusively online from Amazon.in and also from offline retailers. Interested buyers can now pre-order the U11 from HTC's e-store. Those who pre-order the smartphone will receive a free HTC flip-cover worth Rs. 1,999.

Customers also have an option to avail 10% cashback on the MOP of the device using Standard Chartered Debit or Credit card. This offer is valid for a limited time period beginning 26th June ‘17.

HTC has stuffed the U11 with an array of features like HTC Edge Sense, HTC USonic, HTC BoomSound, and HTC Sense Companion.

HTC Edge Sense is a new and key feature of the HTC U11, as it allows users to easily engage with their phone in an intuitive way, by giving them the ability to activate advanced touch and use a “short squeeze” as well as a “squeeze and hold” functionality for taking photos, voice to text messaging, launching any apps, opening email, trigger Google Assistant and more.


The Edge Sense is based on the pressure applied to the side of the device, which helps users to use the U11 in nearly any condition – including rainy weather.

Along with HTC U Play, HTC has also announced its latest flagship smartphone called the HTC U Ultra. The U Ultra is company's premium device in the newly announced U series of smartphones. The key feature of HTC U Ultra is its secondary display which is similar to what LG has been doing with its V series including LG V10 and LG V20.

According to HTC, the U Ultra will come in four colors — Brilliant Black, Ice White, Sapphire Blue and Comestic Pink. The smartphone will be available starting March 2017. HTC has also started the pre-order process of the U Ultra from htc.com. HTC has priced the smartphone in the U.S. at $750 - which is approx Rs. 51,015 and in Taiwan at NT $23,900 - which translates to approx US$ 754 or Rs. 51275.

HTC has also launched a limited edition Sapphire Glass variant of the HTC U Ultra smartphone, which comes with 128GB internal storage. HTC has priced this variant of the U Ultra at NT $28,900, which roughly translates to US $912 or Rs. 62000.


Similar to HTC U Play, the HTC U Ultra also comes with metal frame with front and back of the device made up of glass. HTC says that it has developed a unique process called "optical spectrum hybrid deposition" to give the glass multi-layered color. On the front of the device there's a home button beneath the main display which doubles as fingerprint scanner.

One of the key feature of the HTC U Ultra is company's newly announced AI-based Sense Companion. Basically, it's an voice controlled AI assistant similar to Google Assistant and Siri. The Sense Companion learns from your habits using 4 always-on active microphones. It helps users in performing various tasks like unlocking phone with voice commands, manage battery to reflect your daily pattern, recommend restaurants, warn about weather and road conditions, make suggestions about your agenda and more.

After series of leaks and rumours, HTC earlier today officially took the wraps off its new U series of smartphones. The new HTC U series include mid-range HTC U Play and flagship HTC U Ultra.

Talking about the HTC U Play first, the smartphone is a smaller and affordable variant of the HTC U Ultra smartphone. The device comes with mid-range specifications and lacks some of the key features found on the HTC U Ultra.

HTC U Play comes in four color options including Brilliant Black, Ice White, Sapphire Blue and Comestic Pink. According to HTC, the U Play will be available in two storage options with different RAM configurations - 3GB RAM with 32GB ROM and 4GB RAM with 64GB ROM.

Back in January 2016, HTC launched its 5.5-inch phablet device called the HTC One X9. Exactly after an year, HTC is planning to launch a new refresh of the One X9 smartphone. Called HTC One X10, the device will come with similar specs as found on the One X9, with improvements in just camera segment. The physical look and feel of the device is going to vary.

Leaked by @evleaks, the device is expected to launch later this month. HTC is reported to release a total of three smartphones in first quarter of this year, X10 is one of them followed by HTC Ocean Note with curved screen and industry-best camera. The last device could be the successor of HTC 10.

Talking of One X10-design, the back of X10 resembles the HTC One and the HTC 10 series with metal build, whereas the front is similar to the Desire series. On the back there's a fingerprint scanner beneath the camera module.

Update: The upcoming marlin has now been spotted on Geekbench benchmark website. The listing confirms that the device will run on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box and will have 4GB RAM for multi-masking operations. 

Original Story: A week back specifications of the upcoming HTC-built Nexus smartphone codenamed "sailfish" was leaked online by Android Police (referred as AP further). Now, the firm has leaked specifications of another HTC-built Nexus device codenamed "marlin." HTC is reported to be the new Nexus manufacturer and the company is said to build two Nexus smartphones in 2016.

As Sailfish will be the successor to the Nexus 5X, we can assume that Marlin will succeed Nexus 6P. AP is pretty sure about the specs leaked of Marlin, as they are rating this leak a 9 out of 10.

We have been hearing about HTC-built Nexus devices from a long time. HTC is said to be the new manufacturer of Nexus devices and we will see not one, but two HTC Nexus smartphones in 2016. Out of two, specifications of the upcoming Nexus phone codenamed “Sailfish” (aka “S1”) has been leaked. According to Android Police, Sailfish will be the successor to the Nexus 5X and is the smaller of the two phones.

LG and Samsung took the MWC stage to unveil their respective flagship smartphones. But, HTC on the other hand took a different approach and has unveiled three new mid-range Desire series smartphones at the Mobile World Congress. Called HTC Desire 530, Desire 630 and Desire 825, the smartphones follow the same design policy of HTC but with new micro splash effect, creating unique pattern of paint on each device.
