OBI Mobiles launches Octopus S520 smartphone with 5-inch display, octa-core processor, Android 4.4 KitKat for Rs. 11,990

Obi Mobiles has officially launched its first smartphone in the Indian market on Thursday. The company is headed by former Apple CEO John Sculley. Dubbed as Obi Octopus S520, the smartphone comes with mid-range specs and is now available from online retailer Snapdeal. The Octopus S520 comes in white colour and is priced at Rs. 11,990.

On Thursday, John Sculley former Apple CEO announced the launch of his smartphone brand called Obi Mobiles in India. It appears like the company is planning to sell their smartphones in the price range from Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000 and also estimates to sell over a million units in five months time. The company seems to be highly ambitious as that particular price range is already swamped with a plethora of offerings.

We recently reported that former Apple CEO John Sculley will launch a smartphone in India. The brand name will be 'Obi' and it will be launched in April. The former CEO intends on increasing his company’s IT and telecom distribution business to $1 billion in two years courtesy of the Indian market. Inflexionpoint, which has been promoted by Sculley himself will be contributing about $20 million towards setting up an outline focus, store network, deals and advertising system to start the brand in the country, which will be scaled up progressively as business enhances.
