HTC has started rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat update for Unlocked and Developer Edition HTC One in United States starting today. The update is available for download via over-the-air (OTA) and brings Android 4.4 KitKat and Sense 5.5 UI, rather than Sense 6.0, which is rumoured to arrive along with HTC One successor (HTC Two) in February 2014.
The news was announced by HTC USA on its official twitter account. HTC is not wasting any time in updating its flagship devices, as the company recently rolled out the KitKat update for HTC One Google Play Edition.
To manually check for the update, head over to Settings > About Phone > System Update. The update weights in about 863.52MB in size, and bring the following list of changes,
- KitKat OS 4.4 and Sense 5.5
- BlinkFeed - organize and search more easily and explore new content
- New Gallery features - Video Hightlights update (including add your own sountrack)
- Sense TV enhancements
- Backup and restore contents with HTC Backup
- Find or lock your phone if you lost it
- Updated Hangouts app - unifying SMS/MMS/IMs/video calls
Carrier versions of HTC One in United States will be receiving the 4.4 KitKat update by the end of January, other variants also included.
