Snapdragon 800-powered Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has already received the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. And starting today, the Exynos 5 Octa-core powered Galaxy Note 3 is also getting the same update. Russia is the first country in the world to receive the 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900).
If you live in Russia and hold a Galaxy Note 3 N9000, then you can update the smartphone to 4.4.2 KitKat via Kies or by simply using the Samsung's over-the-air (OTA) service.
To manually check for the update go to Settings > About Device > Software Update > Update. It might take few weeks for the update to reach other markets and regions.
The update brings following list of changes:
- White status bar icons
- Camera shortcut on lock screen
- Music Album art displayed on lock screen
- Upgraded Emoji icons
- Select default messaging app and default launcher
- Location services are more integrated and detailed (new location modes)
- Wireless pricing service, option to select between Samsung's own printing service or HP's
- Upgraded Google apps like photos & drive
Note that, Android 4.4.2 KitKat require to upgrade the Gear Manager for the Galaxy Gear to the latest version 1.6, thought the update doesn't seem to have begun rolling out yet.
