Sony announced the Xperia Z1 at IFA 2013 in Berlin. Weeks after the announcement, news about Xperia Z2 started to arrive on the web. The Xperia Z2 is codenamed Sony Sirius and was expected to debut at CES 2014, unfortunately Sony didn't announce the smartphone there. Now, according to prolific leaker @evleaks, Sony will be announcing the Xperia Z2 next month at MWC in Barcelona

Also, latter21 (Dig-wo forum member), has leaked the multiple alleged images of Xperia Z2 (D6503). The images (below) shows every corner of the smartphone, revealing interesting details.

As you can see in the images, the smartphone looks exactly similar to Xperia Z1, but with minor hardware changes. The lanyard hole which is placed at the bottom right corner on the Xperia Z1 is now shifted to bottom left corner on the Xperia Z2. Also, there's only one flap on the left side of the smartphone, which features the charging port/USB and SIM card slot, since the flap on the right side holds microSD card slot.

In addition, the long speaker grill found at the bottom of the Z1 is replaced by three holes on the Z2. You can also see a small hole on the top, which would be the secondary mic. Lastly, the LED notification light is now a bigger subtle strip of light just at the top of the phone.

Coming to leaked specifications, according to evleaks, the Xperia Z2 will have a 5.2-inch Quad-HD (2K resolution) display with Mobile Bravia Engine 3, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974AB) processor, 20.7MP rear camera and whopping 3,700 mAh battery.

In related to the news, a new Sony Xperia smartphone codenamed Xperia Canopus made for KDDI au (Japan's second largest mobile operator) was spotted getting certified by Japanese authorities recently.

According to blog of mobile, the smartphone will come with a 5-inch display, quad-core Snapdragon 800 MSM8974AB processor, unknown Android version, LTE support, WiMAX and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac connectivity.

Both the smartphones are expected to debut at Mobile World Congress 2014 in February in Barcelona. At the moment, no more information is available with us, but as soon as we hear anything, we will pass it along to you.

Update: Some more images of Sony D6503 showing off its user-interface has been leaked online. The pictures shows a new notification panel. As per the image, the upcoming Bravia Engine 3 will bring updated notification panel, with quick settings section (two-finger swipe), which is not present in current Sony's UI.

According to yaoyi29 (who posted these images), the smartphone features a 5.2-inch IPS display, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with revamped Sony UI and 20.7MP rear camera.

Also, a new picture showing the back panel of an upcoming Sony Xperia smartphone has appeared online. The panel in the image shows the camera configuration sits differently to the current Xperia Z1, with the LED flash adjacent to the camera lens rather than below it. The panel is expected to be of Sony D6603, which is Sony's another flagship device for 2014.

If both the leaks are believed to be true, then Sony will be launching the Sony D6603 simultaneously with the Sony D6503 next month at MWC 2014, like they did with C6503 and C6603 last year at CES. As usual, take the whole story with a pinch of salt, as nothing is confirmed yet.
