Nexus tablets are always the ones that bring in performance on a budget in a compact form and Asus has done a pretty good job at the same till now. But as we gear up for the next iteration of the tablet, it turns out that the same might not be manufactured by Asus and HTC, which had initially refused to manufacture the first generation Nexus 7 tablet will be doing so.

Google Nexus 8 mock-up

The latest rumour is that HTC will be manufacturing the next generation Nexus tablet -- the Google Nexus 8. The tablet will be released in the Q3 of 2014 and it will probably be an 8-inch tablet (or an 8.9-inch tablet). As per a report from the good folks back at Digitimes, the "upstream supply chain" sources are seeing a proof that HTC is in the middle of building the Nexus 8 tablet.

The Nexus 8 tablet is expected to be announced soon after the Google I/O conference comes to an end and the supply chain resources are suggesting a Q3 launch. The Nexus 8 will, however, skip the launch at the I/O conference.

Nexus tablets were launched with the purpose of "boosting Android's penetration in the tablet market" and the same might just get killed after the current year’s Nexus tablet gets launched.
