LG G3 with 5.5-inch Quad HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 13MP camera with Laser AF officially announced
As promised, LG has just now took the wraps off the world's sharpest display smartphone the LG G3, successor of the LG G2. LG G3 is LG's 2014 flagship Android smartphone and comes with impressive design and high-end specifications. The smartphone comes with similar G2-like rear-mounted power and volume buttons.
The LG G3 comes in five different colour options which include Metallic Black, Silk White, Shine Gold, Moon Violet and Burgundy Red. According to LG, the G3 will be available in South Korea starting from May 28th, and eventually will be rolling out worldwide on over 170 carriers. There is no word on pricing details yet.
The smartphone comes with plastic chassis with a special layer giving metal finish. There's also a polished metallic skin on the rear cover that is lightweight and fingerprint-proof. LG has redesigned the graphic user interface (GUI) of G3 to be consistent with the Simple is the New Smart concept.
The new LG's customized UI comes with loads of software features such as Smart Keyboard: it reduces input errors by up to 75 percent by tracking and analyzing typing habits and intuitively “knowing” what word the user intended to type, Smart Notice: it provides suggestions and recommendations based on user behavior, phone usage patterns and location to offer user information when it’s needed the most. It can also remind you of a call you declined earlier and ask if you would like to call that person back, Guest Mode and more.
It also features Smart Security which offers a number of enhanced security features such as: Knock Code - enables users to unlock their device with a pattern of taps, Content Lock - keeps personal files safe and hidden from view when sharing the G3 with friends and Kill Switch - gives G3 owners the ability to disable their phones remotely in the event of theft.
LG will be offering premium accessories to accompany the LG G3 like QuickCircle Case, LG Tone Infinim and Wireless Charger. The G3 also comes with built-in 1W speaker with Boost AMP with a boost mode, which brings the power to 1.5W.
Coming on to the specifications, LG G3 comes with a 5.5-inch Quad HD IPS display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and 538ppi pixel density, 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, Adreno 320 GPU and Android 4.4.2 KitKat with LG's customized UI on top. The smartphone measures 146.3 x 74.6 x 8.9 mm and weights 149 grams.
Other specifications include an 13MP rear camera with LED flash, Laser Auto Focus and OIS+, 2.1MP front facing camera and removable 3,000 mAh battery. The 16GB version of G3 comes with 2GB of RAM, while the 32GB version comes with 3GB of RAM, both with up to 128GB supported microSD card support.
Connectivity series include 4G / LTE / 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.0 with APT-x, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, USB 2.0, NFC, HDMI via Slim Port, DLNA, WiFi Direct and A-GPS/GLONASS.
