Last week we reported that Flipkart, the leading e-commerce retailer in India is all set to launch its own branded tablets under the brand name DigiFlip. Now, according to BGR India, Flipkart has started sending out press invites to the Indian tech press media for attending an event on June 26th, where the Indian retailer giant will launch its own tablets under its own DigiFlip brand. It already sells a wide range of electronic and computer accessories including speakers, headphones and pen drives under the DigiFlip brand name.
The tablets would be quite a nice addition to the line-up as Flipkart has a strong network to facilitate the sales and after sales too. It has reportedly tied up with Mediatek to be the chipset vendor for the tablets.
Flipkart is readying itself up for future as other e-commerce companies might jump on to the wagon of selling their branded stuff as well. Amazon’s Kindle readers are an example of that and it has just launched the Fire Phone too.
The e-commerce sector in India is booming right now and there’s a huge market waiting to be captured. With no other e-commerce retailer venturing into launching their own branded merchandise for the time being, Flipkart might just get the first mover’s advantage in this regard.
Not much of an information is available about the Flipkart tablet as of now but the range of tablets is expected to be on the cheaper side with mid-range specs and cost below Rs. 10,000.
