Flipkart reported to launch its own tablets under brand named DigiFlip
Leading e-commerce retailer Flipkart appears to be geared up in launching its own tablets under the brand named DigiFlip. According to a report by The Economic Times, the retailer will soon be launching its own tablet brand very soon. So long, Flipkart had been selling a wide range of electronic and computer accessories including speakers, headphones and pen drives under this brand. But, the report claims that manufacturing their own tablets is way too different from selling accessories.
Though Flipkart has declined to comment on the market speculations, industry experts have already started coming up with their own views on the situation. While Flipkart’s decision to enter the tablet manufacturing space would be great, there are threats such as declining tablet sales in Q1 2014.
Hence, it is claimed that the retailer will have to limit the number of models manufactured, provide aspiring specs and price the product right to witness success in the tablet market that already has a cut throat competition.
Moreover, this is not the first time that Flipkart is rumored to be entering into the manufacturing industry. There were heavy rumors suggesting that the retailer will be involved in making its branded smartphones, but they were ruled out later. Anyways, we need to wait until the retailer announces an official word regarding the same.
