Samsung appears to be aiming to become the world’s largest smartwatch manufacturer as it is constantly planning to expand its portfolio with new such devices. While the company has released the Galaxy Gear and the Gear 2 within a short span of six months, it is still planning to continue with this launch pattern with the launch of the next generation smartwatch – Gear 3.
According to a report by The Korea Herald, the South Korean tech giant will be taking the wraps off its next flagship smartwatch that is the successor of the Gear 2 at the IFA conference in September alongside the Galaxy Note 4.
Long time rumors suggest that Samsung is prepping a standalone smartwatch that will come with a SIM card slot to enable making voice calls and send messages without pulling out the smartphone. Allegedly called Gear Solo, the device is claimed to fill the gap between the Gear 2 and the purported Gear 3 smartwatch that could be launched in the fall. However, this makes sense as there are speculations that the Gear Solo will be limited to select markets similar to the Galaxy Round with curved display that is available only in Korea.
Samsung is in rumors to launch a Google Glass like device with the Note 4, but a smartwatch is something that will go well and it has been accepted by the consumers. Moreover, Apple and other Android manufacturers are all set to launch their smartwatches in the near future and unsurprisingly, Samsung will also plan to come up with a competitor in this regard.
