Google was expected to launch the successor to the popular Nexus 7 tablet at the recently concluded I/O event but the search engine giant wanted Android Wear and Android L Developer preview to be the centre of attraction and the devices that were launched with it. But it looks like that the successor to the popular tablet is going to launch indeed in future and a Nexus 8 prototype has been imported into India for research and development purposes.
A Nexus 8 prototype has been shipped into the country and has been listed by Zauba, which tracks imports and exports in the country. We can safely assume that the Bangalore facility of Google was the one where the device was being taken to for testing.
The next Nexus tablet will grow in size surely and the rumours are around an 8.9-inch with 2048 x 1440 pixels resolution display. No information about the manufacturer of the device was leaked through it.
As per the previous leaks, the tablet will be manufactured by HTC and is currently codenamed Volantis. It will come with a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. The tablet will be packing 16GB / 32GB of internal storage, 8MP rear snapper with OIS and a 3MP front-facing camera. It will run on Android L in all probability and will have front speakers too.
That is all of what is known about the next generation of the Nexus tablet and we’ll keep you updated in future too about the same.
