In this time period when the Android Wear based smartwatches are the trend, it appears like Asus will also be working on one such wearable device. The Taiwan based vendor has sent out media invites to the tech media across the world for an event slated to happen on September 3rd at the IFA 2014 slated to be held in September.
The invite reads, “Time has been transformed and we have changed”. It also confirms that the company will be unveiling its first smartwatch on that day which would come with a stainless steel frame, polish as mirrors and sexy curved body.
Asus was announced as one of Google’s official partners in March alongside others such as Motorola, HTC, LG and Samsung. It is also claimed that the first Asus smartwatch will be priced competitively between $99 and $149 that is pretty attractive while the other Android Wear based smartwatches from Samsung and LG start from $199.
If this pricing details turn out to be true, the Asus smartwatch will be facing a tough competition with the Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch that is slated to go official on September 4. Furthermore, HTC is also expected to launch its first Android Wear based smartwatch soon and LG is gossiped to come up with the G Watch 2 that is its second generation smartwatch.
