After teasing it couple of days ago, LG today officially took the wraps off the what is said to be the world’s first smartwatch to feature a full circular Plastic OLED display and utilize 100 percent of its watch face, called the LG G Watch R. Similar to LG G Watch, the G Watch R runs on the Android Wear platform and will be showcased at the company's booth at the IFA 2014 event next month.

LG G Watch R comes in only Black colour and according to LG, the G Watch R will be available in key markets early in the fourth quarter of 2014. Prices and details of availability will be announced locally at the time of launch.

Unlike Moto 360 which utilizes semi-circular display, the G Watch R utilizes 100% of its display. The smartwatch is water and dust resistant and has a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor to monitor heart rate. The watch has durable stainless steel frame and carries interchangeable 22mm calf skin leather strap.

On the specifications front, LG G Watch R comes with a 1.3-inch P-OLED display with resolution of 320x320 pixels, 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB RAM and Android Wear platform.

Other specifications include 4GB of internal storage, 410mAh battery and series of sensors which include Gyro, Accelerometer, Compass and Barometer.

Update (August 30th): If the German press release of LG G Watch R is any indication, then LG will price this new piece of hardware at an incredible 299 Euros in the country, which is approx Rs. 23,800 and US$393. The G Watch R will go on sale in Germany starting October.

If the aforementioned amount turns out to be the real deal, then LG G Watch R will be the most expensive Android Wear powered smartwatch to be available in market, since the circular Moto 360 costs only $249. (Via)
