Reports regarding an affordable variant of the metal clad Samsung Galaxy Alpha have been surfacing since past few weeks. The South Korean firm was alleged to be prepping a mid-ranger with the model number SM-A500. Now, SamMobile has revealed that the upcoming SM-A500 will be dubbed as Samsung Galaxy A5, and has also leaked the first live images of the same.
Previous reports suggested that the SM-A500 aka the Galaxy A5 would have metallic build. But according to SamMobile's report, the Galaxy A5 would not feature a full metal-body. Instead, it will come with a unique material that "feels cold in the hand."
In a different report, the Samsung SM-A500 has also passed the Chinese regulatory website TENAA. The website has revealed the complete specifications of the smartphone along with its own set of live images.
The latest reports regarding this smartphone claims that the handset would feature a 13MP primary camera and not an 8MP one. Also, it is likely to implement the updated TouchWiz interface that was introduced at the IFA 2014 tech show alongside the Galaxy Note 4.
Rest of the specifications include a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 2GB of RAM and Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The phone will also comes with 16GB of native storage support that can be expanded externally by another 128GB microSD card, 5MP front facing camera and 2,330 mAh battery.
In addition to Galaxy A5, another Samsung A-series smartphone has been spotted in the GFXBench databse. Holding the model number SM-A300, the smartphone is reported to be called the Samsung Galaxy A3. According to GFXBench, Samsung Galaxy A3 will come with a 4.8-inch qHD display, 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, Adreno 306 GPU, 1GB RAM and Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
Other specifications include an 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 5MP front facing camera and 8GB internal storage with expandable using microSD card. The phone comes with usual connectivity options such as 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.
There is no word on when the smartphones will be launched officially, though it won't be that far, maybe next month. Till then, stay tuned!
