As Google has announced the Android 5.0 Lollipop, the manufacturers are coming up with the update schedule to their offerings. Following Motorola and HTC, Sony has also come up with its update schedule. The vendor on Thursday announced that it will be releasing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its entire Xperia Z series devices.
The Xperia Z series devices include Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1S, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.
Also, the Japanese tech giant will release Android 5.0 for the Google Play Edition of Z Ultra and this will be the first Sony device to receive the update. The Xperia Z lineup will receive the update in early 2015 and the Xperia Z3 and Z2 lineup will get the update first followed by the rest.
As of now, Sony has not announced the update schedule for the other devices in its portfolio including the Xperia T lineup, Xperia E lineup, Xperia M lineup and Xperia C lineup. May be, we will get to know more details about the Android 5.0 update in the coming weeks.
Besides the devices that will get the update, Sony has also claimed that it will be introducing some Sony tweaks as a part of it to render better features and functionality.
