We have been hearing and witnessing about the upcoming Samsung flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S6 and its edge variant called Galaxy S6 Edge, since a long time. Recently, case makers dropped the first official look of the smartphones. Now, some alleged live images of the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge has been surfaced online. Furthermore, a leaked promo image offers clearest look of the upcoming models.
Couple of weeks back, South Korea based case manufacturer Versus popped up in the headlines for the leak of the armor cases meant for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Versus is a premium case maker, and hence there are chances for the renders leaked online to be authentic.
The images shows, or say confirms, that the camera flash and heart rate sensor are repositioned to the left of the snapper. It also reveals the Galaxy S6 Edge, showing the presence of dual curved screen with side displays on both edges. These edges appear thinner than the curve on the Galaxy Note Edge in order to house the volume and power keys, as reported by SamMobile.
The report revealed that the upcoming Galaxy S6 Edge will boast 30 to 50 percent lesser curved display as compared to the one on the Galaxy Note Edge. This is claimed to be possible with the incorporation of a smaller display and placement of the power and volume keys on the sides.
Following this, US telecom operators T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint have published an teaser image of the Galaxy S6 Edge on their websites, which indeed gives the first official look at the smartphone. The teaser image is same for all, with cheesy "Six Appeal" tag line and clearly reveals the curved edge display that borders the overflowing glass on the phone. The power button is almost wrapped around to the read of the phone.
To add more fuel to the fire, first purported live images of the Galaxy S6 has showed up on the web. The Galaxy S6, as per images, has a very Samsung vibe with round corners and physical home button. The new additions include metal frame, and front and back covered with glass, to make device look more premium in terms of design and tactility.
The newcomer will offer non-removable back cover and feature protruding camera. The SIM card slot is now located on the right side, below power / lock button and the 3.5mm headphone jack is shifted to the bottom. On top sits an IR blaster, microphone pinhole, and antenna strips.
Following the Galaxy S6 from all angles, couple of photos of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge side-by-side have showed up for the first time. The image clearly shows that the Edge display on the S6 Edge is not working separately from the main display, as on the Galaxy Note Edge. Both the devices appear to be similarly sized, with the Galaxy S6 Edge more curvy. The home button powered fingerprint scanner is also included on both devices.
Moreover, the latest image leak (header image of post) from US telecom operator Sprint's marketing material gives the clearest look at Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. The promo image was posted on Reddit and the text in the image reads: consumers who pre-register for S6 or S6 Edge in order to know when the phones become available from Sprint stores will be eligible to win these devices. Lastly, the possible specifications of the Galaxy S6 Edge has passed through the AnTuTu benchmarks. The handset is likely to carry the model number SM-G925W8 and employ an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor based on 14nm process. It is said to be backed by an ARM Mali-T760 graphics unit that can render efficient graphics handling and 3GB of RAM for decent multi-tasking.
When it comes to the screen, the Galaxy S6 Edge is claimed to flaunt a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display packing screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The device is likely to bundle 32GB of native memory capacity. The listing also claims that there will be a 20MP rear camera and a 5MP front facing camera.
All these are only leaks and speculations, and we need to wait until Samsung reveals the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge to know about them in detail. The devices are all set to be launched on March 1 at the Unpacked Mobile event before the MWC 2015 tech show takes off.
