LG G5 is not only LG's first all-metal phone, it may also be one of the world's first modular phone. The modular term used in this post refers to the ability of G5 to support additional modules for expanding its capabilities.

This modular design gives the LG G5 the ability to transform into a digital camera, hi-fi player and more all while keeping its traditional removable battery. LG calls this, LG Friends. The first two modules that LG is introducing with the G5 are the LG CAM Plus and LG Hi-Fi Plus with B&O PLAY. You can read more about them here.

These companion devices include LG 360 VR, LG 360 CAM, LG Rolling Bot, LG Tone Platinum, H3 by B&O PLAY, LG Smart Controller and LG Friends Manager. You can read about them here.Talking about design, the LG G5 features all metal uni-body design with volume rockers to the side of the phone, and power button / fingerprint scanner on the back, similar to LG G4. The device comes in 4 different color options: silver, titan, gold and pink. LG says it will announce the pricing information during last week of March, with a release sometime in early April.
With the G5, LG is introducing a paradigm-shifting smartphone ecosystem — the LG Playground. With this, LG aims to strengthen the ties with its partners and introduce various devices and supporting programs to fully maximize the LG Playground.

LG is introducing a wide range of companion devices, aptly called LG Friends, to deliver fun while providing a new mobile experience far beyond traditional smartphone boundaries.
