LG Optimus G's Waterproof Variant Optimus GJ Announced in Taiwan

LG has unwrapped the waterproof variant of LG Optimus G in Taiwan Yesterday. This waterproof Optimus G is dubbed as LG Optimus GJ. The Optimus GJ will go on sale in Taiwan from Next Month for NT$17,990 which is approx. $600 US Dollar.

Ever since the Sony Xperia Z showed up at CES, a high-end model that was able to withstand water and dust, we have seen other high-end models take the plunge into waterproofing. This phone will give tough competition to newly announced Xperia ZR and Xperia Z. LG Optimus GJ can stay underwater for 30mins upto 1m of depth.

The Optimus GJ packs the same specs as Optimus G, 4.7-inch IPS HD display having resolution of 1280x768p, 1.5GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro Processor, 2GB RAM, 2280mAh Battery, Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, 16GB internal storage which can be expanded using microSD Card and 13MP rear camera with 1.3MP front facing camera.

The device is slightly thicker and larger than original Optimus G (131.9x68.9x8.5mm vs. 136.9x68.9x9.9mm). There is no word on whether the phone will be released in international markets or not. LG is working on Optimus G successor and is expected to release in the form of Optimus G2 in coming months.
