The invites were landed hours after, LG published the press report stating that, company's Optimus G successor will use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 CPU. The press report is not only the reason why every one is thinking about the launch of LG Optimus G2 on 7th August, but some previous reports also pointed that LG might be announcing the successor of Optimus G in Q3.

According to PhoneArena report, LG will be no longer using OPTIMUS name on its high-end models, reserving the title for low and mid-range handsets. They continued saying that, High-end models will be known as the "G-series."

So, as everyone is expecting Optimus G successor to be dubbed as LG Optimus G2, considering LG's announcement involving the removal of the Optimus name from its high-end phones, we could see a whole new name for the phone during the event.

Leaving all that, an unnamed LG device has been already spotted online thrice, which probably is the Next-generation Optimus G smartphone. As per the leaks, the smartphone has no front buttons, a thin bezel and a slight camera hump with a rumoured packing of 5.2-inch Full HD display, 2.3GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Processor, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with 13MP rear camera, 2.1MP front facing camera and LTE-Advanced support.
