LG may be one of the top 5 smartphone manufacturers globally but the same cannot be said about the company's Indian operations. It is over shadowed by the likes of Samsung and Micromax and one of the reasons why it has not become popular is the fact that it has an erratic software update schedule and at times it skips updates altogether, thus resulting in a poor user experience.
However, the company is looking to change the same by trying to give regular updates to its customers. In a recent Twitter conversation with a LG Optimus G Pro owner, the company revealed that it will be rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat update for G Pro towards the end of the second quarter of 2014. It will come with added functionalities courtesy of the Optimus UI on top of it.
A point worth mentioning is that there has been no official statement regarding the global rollout of the same till now. So the current LG flagship phablet will surely get the KitKat update by the end of June.
LG will be skipping the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for a slew of devices and will be upgrading them to Android 4.4 KitKat straight away. They are: LG Optimus F3, LG Optimus F6, LG G Pad 8.3, LG G Pro Lite, LG Optimus F7, LG Optimus L9 II and LG Optimus Vu II.
LG G2 will be getting the KitKat update in March and the same has already been confirmed by LG as well. In the past, LG has cut a lot of corners in updating its devices. The flagship device owners are the worst hit as they've paid a nice chunk of money and they end up waiting for software updates. But LG has learnt its lessons now and is going in the right direction. We can expect an official announcement shortly.
