There have been a slew of debates off late about the Galaxy S3 getting an upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat and what not, and Samsung seems to have spilled the beans regarding the same accidentally. As it turns out, it is a good news for the owners of Galaxy S3 as Samsung is expected to upgrade the smartphone finally to the latest flavour of Android 4.4 KitKat.

Samsung Galaxy S3

In a reply to a query posted on the Facebook page, Samsung Arabia stated that “KitKat update will be available by end of this month.”  This is pretty much in sync with the previous rumours which suggested a similar time frame as well.

There are still difficulties in confirming the update as there is no firmware development for the time being based on the latest version of Android for S3 on the Korean giant's servers. Had the update been coming out in March, it would have been very well on the servers as of now, so the update may not come out as soon as we expect it to be.

Usually manufacturers offer an 18 month support for devices which the S3 has crossed now. But Samsung’s reputation of upgrading devices makes us believe that the manufacturer will indeed be updating its device to KitKat. Let us wait and watch which way the tide turns.
