Around 80,000 - 1 Lakh units of Moto E sold out in less than a day by Flipkart, Motorola promises new stocks to be available soon
Motorola's first budget Android smartphone, the Moto G created a hype in the country because of its attractive price tag and specifications. Motorola priced the Moto G in India at just Rs. 12,499 for the 8GB version and Rs. 13,999 for the 16GB version. With extreme success of Moto G, Motorola recently launched a new smartphone in India with a price-tag of just Rs. 6,999. Dubbed as Moto E, the smartphone is aimed at entry-level users.
Similar to Moto G, Motorola again partnered with Flipkart for selling the Moto E across the country. The smartphone sales begin on May 14th, Wednesday (12:01 AM) and within the first 16 hours the smartphone went out of stock. Flipkart then started taking reservations for the Moto E and after 24 hours of taking reservations, Flipkart stopped that service too. Later on, yesterday, the phone was again available on Flipkart but unfortunately it didn't last too long.
Now, a senior executive at Motorola Mobility has told TOI that the company stocked up around 80,000 - 1 Lakh units of Moto E. Motorola expected the stocks to last for a few days, but were completely sold out by mid-day on Wednesday. The exact numbers are not yet available, but Flipkart has confirmed that Moto E is entirely out of stock at present.
The senior executive also revealed that the sales have surpassed their highest expectations and Motorola is now busy arranging more 'significant' amount of Moto E units from China. The massive demand of Moto E also caused the Flipkart website to shutdown temporarily.
Motorola is extremely happy with the sales of Moto E and has acknowledged the response by giving a 'Thank you note'. The US-based company is promising that the new stocks of the smartphone will be available soon.
We are very delighted to receive such a great reaction from our consumers and want to thank them for the overwhelming response and support for Moto E. We were well prepared as we anticipated the huge demand. Despite the fact that we had enough stocks, getting sold out within 16 hours is a testament to consumers’ huge belief and faith in the brand Motorola and Moto E that is made to last and priced for all.
