Google’s Nexus devices are one of the most awaited devices every year. Their launch is always anticipated with a lot of zeal and it looks like the next generation of Nexus devices will launch soon. In a chromium code review, couple of mentions of Nexus 6 (the next generation Nexus smartphone) and the Nexus 8 (next generation Nexus tablet) have been spotted, confirming the upcoming devices name. So we’ll surely see them soon.
According to SmartDroid's (German website) report, Florian Kiersch have found the Nexus 8 and Nexus 6 being mentioned in Chromium code review but no further details about them are available. All that we know is that these will be the names of the next generation Nexus devices.
The Nexus 6 is expected to be based on the upcoming LG G3 which is due for a launch on May 27th and the Nexus 8 will probably be built by HTC with an Intel processor under the hood.
There have also been rumours that this will be the last year for Google to launch Nexus devices and the Nexus program will come to a halt post 2014. It will be replaced by Android Silver in 2015. It will be meant to aid Google and OEMs to launch high end devices at pricing which won’t be as high as usually it is for the flagships.
Nexus 8 is expected to be launched in June at Google I/O 2014 conference with the Nexus 6 being expected to be launched in the last quarter of 2014.
