HTC M8 Mini to be called HTC One Mini 2, press render leaked confirming single camera setup (real press render)

Update: The expert leaker @evleaks has leaked the first official press image of the HTC One Mini 2. The new press image leaked by @evleaks is different from the one leaked by PhoneArena (image below), suggesting that the PhoneArena's image is not real.

The new press image shows the device in three different colours -- Gray, Silver and Gold, similar to HTC One (M8). The design of M8 Mini is somewhat similar to the original M8, apart from some tweaks like the Duo camera has been replaced by single camera and the dual-tone LED flash in M8 is replaced by single-LED flash in M8 Mini.

Also, the sensors on the front are moved from right to left and the front speakers are slightly re-designed. HTC is expected to debut the One Mini 2 later this month.

Earlier (4th May): Soon after the release of HTC’s flagship phone One (M8), rumors regarding its miniature variant were pouring in suggesting that handset will be launched next month. Now, a render of this unannounced smartphone has popped up online for the very first time. Also, popular leaker @evleaks has revealed that the miniature version of HTC One (M8) will be called HTC One Mini 2.

The render has been leaked by PhoneArena. And as you can see, the difference between the One (M8) and One Mini 2 seems to lie on back panel as far as the looks are concerned. The successor of One Mini will come with a single camera setup with a 13MP primary sensor and 5MP front snapper.

This rules out the presence of an UltraPixel camera on the miniature variant and also the ability to edit the photos after capturing them as in its bigger brother that has Duo camera set-up. The second camera lens in the One (M8) actually adjusts the foregound or background to blur it as in background defocus.

As per previous reports, the One Mini 2 is said to come with a 4.5-inch HD display, quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.4GHz and 1GB of RAM. Also, there are rumors that it will pack 16GB of internal storage space and run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat topped with the latest Sense 6.0 UI.

HTC One (M8) Mini is confirmed by a UK retailer and it is gossiped to hit the retail shelves this month.

In addition to the news, @evleaks has also revealed that the One (M8) will soon come in three more colours, including Red, Blue and Pink. No word on when the three new color variants of M8 will be available.
